When a gun has not enough drop at the comb you see too much of the rib and it looks like the bead is perched atop a long ramp no matter how hard you smash your face into the stock.

Now if I pull my fist back so it is off your chest I can hit you and the impact will make your skin hurt. If my hand is already pressed onto your chest with just a pit of pressure, I can't do much to make the impact hurt you on the surface. I'm going to try and punch you in the chest. Your cheek might still be touching the stock, but very lightly. Now there is some space between the comb and your cheekbone, when the gun goes off, it will slap you, and after a few rounds leave you with a nice bruise over the bone.

So to see the bead and target which would be obscured by the back of the reciever if you kept your cheek on the stock, you have to lift up your head just a bit. When a gun has too much drop at the comb you see the back of the reciever when you press your cheek down on the comb of the buttstock, and if its way too much drop you don't even see the bead.

Unless your son is one of those guys you talked to, forget what they said, plus they forgot to mention the most important part.Ĭheek slap is due to the gun not fitting properly with regards to stock dimension, most notably here "drop at the comb". Everyone's face is different and you need to get a shotgun that fits your face. The Benelli M2 includes 5 choke tubes (C, IC, M, IM, F), and a paracord survival sling.Typical terrible, poor advice due to lack of knowldge and common sense from a Gander gun dept employee. The barrel features a lightweight ventilated stepped rib, and a HIVIZ® CompSight® front sight for rapid target acquisition. The Rob Roberts Triple Threat choke tubes, coupled with the lengthened and polished forcing cone, produce tight, uniform shot patterns that down birds at maximum shotgun range. Benelli uses Crio® System barrels on their M2's that feature cryogenically treated barrels with an even-grained, slick surface that minimizes pellet deformation. The M2 uses a rotating bolt head with steel locking lugs that lock into the steel barrel extension creating a steel-to-steel lock that becomes even tighter during firing, while an oversized bolt handle and release ensure flawless bolt manipulation, even with gloved or large hands. The recoil operated Inertia-Driven System is the epitome of simplicity, with just 3 main parts, that operates cleaner than gas operated semi-automatic shotguns. The M2 features a honed and polished action and operates with Benelli's Inertia-Driven® System that has proven itself in the field to be ultra-reliable, cycling both 2-3/4" field loads and 3" magnums interchangeably without adjustments. The buttstock utilizes Benelli's ComforTech® recoil reduction system that reduces recoil by as much as 48%, enabling shooters to stay on target for fast follow up shots.
